Cant handle the truth

I am a security guard in an Immigration Detention Centre and I Have been in a secret relationship with a Refugee for 6 months. It has to be secret cause I would lose my job. We got engaged on Christmas Day and I finally broke the news to my friends and family. They weren’t happy but they all excepted it eventually. I went out a week ago and got a beautiful ring. That same day My fiancee decided it wasn’t working and broke it off with me. Now I can’t re-break the news to My friends and family. How do I tell everyone that 2 weeks after admitting I was in a relationship and was getting married to someone they didnt know I am now single and the owner of a $2000 ring that I paid for?
