Last night, my partner told me that they were once attracted to minors. I still love them.
This started when they were about 12-13, when puberty was just hitting, and they realised they were attracted to younger children. They looked for cognitive behavioural therapy and have successfully redirected these desires into only fictional/pretend contexts, and me and them have roleplayed ageplay/loli scenarios together. They think these desires appeared because they were sexually assaulted as a child by an older woman, and developed this fetish as a trauma response.
I’m making this confession really so I can get this information off my chest and continue with my life. My feelings for them haven’t changed: I still love them, and I intend to marry them. I think that, by recognising something was wrong with them, stopping it, and letting it out in a context where nobody would get hurt, they are a good person. I’m just conflicted – Does it reflect badly on me that I’m still in love with someone who was attracted to minors, even if they aren’t anymore? I need to think over myself and what I think of this information, but I still love them and will stay with them until the end. I just needed to tell someone.
