My mom is the most amazing woman on the planet.
When I was like five she started showing me how to take care of my room. Bed made every morning, clothes in the hamper, things picked up then there was the weekend cleaning routine. Next came personal hygiene, nobody likes a smelly person, keep your hair combed and brush your teeth twice a day. She kept expanding on responsibility for me, this is what it takes to keep a house clean and organized. Education is key to success, schoolwork done before all other things, do all the problems not just the odd or even ones. Choose a few of the harder ones and do them over and over until you see the solution in your head. She left nothing out, how to manage finances, what clothes go to the dry cleaner, why do women have periods. All and everything life had to throw at me she would answer how to throw it back or use it to my advantage.
I will be turning sixty one this year and she is still in my life almost daily, I am more than ready for retirement but not sure if I want to actually do it or teach others to do the same things she taught me. I really enjoy travelling, go to places that people do not normally go for a vacation, I will not stay at a resort ever. I would much rather meet interesting people at a hostel or bunk house, when I travel I like to wear normal everyday clothes and sometimes buy local things because they are better for that environment. I mean, the locals are dressing that way to impress anyone, they want to be comfortable and sometimes functional. I have also stayed with a family sharing how they live and seeing the differences from my day to day life.
I think I do all of this because of how my mother raised me to throw things back or keep them and use to my advantage.
